Learning how to learn through accredited professional courses
What are cognitive skills?
OurĀ thinking and problem solving abilities develop from birth. They are essential to making sense of the world around us and learning how to learn. Knowledge is what we learn and cognitive skills are about how we learn. These twin aspects of learning are interdependent. Children, adolescents, and adults, may not have the cognitive skills they need for formal education, work, or even everyday activities. Cognitive education can help them acquire these skills through a structured programme of learning.
Who needs to know about cognitive education?
You may be a psychologist, assessing cognitive skills and advising others. You may be acting in a professional capacity as a teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), therapist, or caregiver, or you may be concerned as a family member. If you have care responsibilities for certain patient populations, you may want to understand more about how cognitive skills are impacted by illness, trauma or decline.
